The question is asked: Why was it necessary for there to be the histalkus of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe? Here we had a Jew who showed open miracles… We could have proceeded together with him and thus complete the number of years remaining until the coming of Moshiach!
There’s no need to be confined to “walled cities” – if you live with the Rebbe.
The absurdity is that, for some reason, when it comes to Inyanei Moshiach, people feel they can express their opinions based on their feelings, “I think …” Then others say that so-and-so is a big lamdan and has Daas Torah …
The Rebbe himself accompanies his shluchim, “not just ‘a shtikl Rebbe – part of the Rebbe.’ Indeed, the Rebbe, in his entirety, goes with each of the shluchim.” The degree of caution with which one must, therefore, employ in his behavior is astounding: “They must know that when the Rebbe goes with them, he personally oversees every single movement they make, and he inspects their work in fulfilling the shlichus. Thus, it is imperative to fulfill the shlichus inscrutably.”
In order to clarify his intent, the Rebbe qualified the term by saying, “long life – chayim aruchim.” Everyone knows that “chayim aruchim” means “life” in the literal sense, physical life (as the term is used in nusach ha’t’fillos, in Slichos, and the like).
Even the thought of distinguishing among Jews the extent to which they embody “his descendants are alive,” and how much more so regarding speaking or publicizing it – this detracts from the life of Yaakov Avinu, G-d forbid, and it is the opposite of simple faith in the Torah of Moshe, which states “Yaakov Avinu did not die,” for “just as his children are alive, so is he alive.”
