AN ILLUSORY QUIET: WHAT’S REALLY HAPPENING ON THE LEBANESE BORDER?

Unit 101 was made up of courageous elite fighters. They would go out on retaliatory missions in response to any terror attacks against Jews, bringing the war to the doorstep of our enemies. When one of these fighters, Yitzchak Jibli, of blessed memory, was taken hostage during military activities, his friends went out on their own operation and captured forty terrorists, holding them until Jibli’s release. Today, only the other side is displaying this kind of grit and determination, while retaliatory measures are no longer part of the IDF’s lexicon.

WHEN NEWS OF THE YOM KIPPUR WAR REACHED CROWN HEIGHTS

…the Syrian and Egyptian armies had suddenly attacked from the north and the south. He was agitated and emotionally overwrought, and said that the Rebbe was surely immersed in his prayers and did not know what was going on while the Jews in Eretz Yisroel needed a great salvation.

WHAT OBAMA UNDERSTANDS…

Even when Yitzchak Shamir flew to the Madrid Conference, he too merely wanted to show respect for the Americans – but that was too much for the Rebbe. He toppled Mr. Shamir’s government in order to put an end to any discussions on dividing Eretz Yisroel and placing the security of its millions of Jewish residents in mortal danger, simply in order to “show respect for the Americans”…

A CHASSID UNDER FIRE ON THE FRONT LINES

“The Chassidishe chinuch I received, and the hope and trust in Hashem that I brought with me as a Chassid, helped raise spirits on the front lines.” * A beloved Chassid who fought valiantly against the Egyptians, who, despite his army issued olive green fatigues, stood out as a Chassid and saved the lives of many soldiers. No wonder the commander refused to release him despite the order received from above. * Stories and memories about the Chassid, R’ Meir Freiman a”h, who fought in the Yom Kippur War.

ZERO HOUR – IRAN: WE ARE A NATION ALONE

If only there was an Israeli leader who would recognize that we are “a people that will dwell alone,” and realize the tremendous strength of the Jewish People. The Israeli leadership has remained impervious to this strength, and insists, even during moments of great victory, that we toady to the nations of the world.

SACRIFICES OF THE DIPLOMATIC PROCESS

“We once called them ‘sacrifices of peace,’ and today they are sacrifices of the diplomatic process,” said Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon the previous week. He essentially declared exactly what the Rebbe had said more than thirty years ago: Talking with terrorists doesn’t just bring territorial concessions, it leads to murder. What were once “the sacrifices of peace” are now the sacrifices of the talks between Israel’s pseudo right-wing government and the terrorist organization calling for the Jewish homeland’s destruction.

ALL JEWS ARE THE SAME, ESPECIALLY TO A MISSILE

During the week when the United States showed a glimmer of sanity as it decided not to support the agreement designed to give carte blanche to Iran’s uranium enrichment program, voices were heard in Eretz Yisroel, of all places, calling for cooperation on the division of Yerushalayim. Furthermore, it was specifically the ultra-Orthodox Knesset Members who seemed to forget that the Torah has something to say on this issue as well.

EXPULSION ORDERS NEXT SUMMER?

We’re talking about a questionable “gesture” to the head of the PLO, a terrorist organization dedicated to the principle of murdering Jews – men, women, and children. At the end of this process, at least as far as the prime minister is concerned, there will be another expulsion r”l. The question now is whether we should wait until they start pounding on the doors with expulsion orders, or should we wake up and fulfill the Rebbe’s instructions to protest vigorously and save the Jewish People?

HAS EVERYONE GONE MAD?

The public debate in Eretz Yisroel used to revolve around the release of Arab terrorists and whether this was a proper way to save the lives of IDF soldiers. However, this is no longer the issue. The question now is: What is the connection between the peace talks and releasing terrorists? It should be the opposite – if we make peace, all the murderers should be in prison…

ON THE VERGE OF THE NEXT EXPULSION

The prime minister is determined to carve out a place for himself in the annals of history as the one who established the permanent borders of the Jewish state. This will then mark the stage of “turnabout is fair play.” The ultra-Orthodox MKs will become those pursued by their colleagues from the Bayit Yehudi Party, who will beg them to cooperate in all Knesset votes against the Netanyahu government.

BENNETT THE IMPOSTOR

Since the Gush Katif expulsion, the political left in Eretz Yisroel has cried out for a strong Likud prime minister who will succeed in reenacting the crimes of his predecessor, Ariel Sharon. One prominent leftist wrote last week that “Prime Minister Netanyahu is the only person today who can achieve the idea of two states.” He added that Netanyahu has in fact already accepted the concept of partitioning Eretz Yisroel…

THE WOUND STILL FESTERS

Housing and Construction Minister Uri Ariel stood on the podium for several minutes, unable to speak as his voice was choked with tears. After he managed to compose himself, he related his personal experiences, or better put, the horrible experiences of those tragic days… “How cruel can you be?” Ariel cried out as he recalled the incident.

KOWTOWING TO PUBLIC OPINION IS THE HALLMARK OF A POLITICAN, NOT A CHIEF RABBI

The Rebbe saw back then how the institution of the rabbinate was being dragged into politics. Candidates for rabbinical posts talk like politicians, rather than openly expressing their opinion on Torah matters.
