THE POWER OF “JUST DO IT”

This Shabbos is Shabbos HaGadol, the Shabbos before 11 Nissan and Chag Ha’Pesach. These two Yomim Tovim complement each other. Chazal tell us that Pesach not only marks the liberation from Mitzrayim but also marks the beginning of the process of the final Geula. The process of geula will ultimately culminate through the avoda of Melech HaMoshiach, whose birthday is 11 Nissan.

THE REBBE SEES THE ENTIRE WORLD

A group of Chabad Chassidim from the city of Telenesht (a city in Bessarabia [now Moldova] in Eastern Europe) made its way to Lubavitch in order to see the third Rebbe, the Tzemach Tzedek. It was a long journey in those days, from their homes to the capitol of Chabad Chassidus. They wanted to spend Pesach with the Rebbe and had left home a few days after Chanuka.

THE LEGENDARY MASHPIA

The mashpia, R’ Chaim Alter Nissan Shimon Simchovitz, who was known as R’ Alter Simchovitz, was born to Yitzchok and Chaya Miriam, a family that was descended from the Vilna Gaon. He was born in Pochep in Belarus at the beginning of 5650/1889. His father’s uncle was R’ Yitzchok Elchonon Spektor, renowned posek and leader of Lithuanian Jewry.
