Response to a blogger about fair play in the Middle East

I dont think modern warfare can be discussed without a historical context, of war in general i mean. certainly there must be some parameters as to when war is justified. once those parameters are met, i dont think a nation fighting for its survival should worry about feelings of guilt or disapproval from any other nation or entity.
The blogger had written:
If you protest against the missile attacks on southern Israel and support Israel’s right to defend itself, then you still must question the value of large-scale assaults on Gaza, which will likely include civilian casualties (death and injury are both counted), the promise of increased anti-Israel sentiment within Gaza (along with communities around the globe), and the likely revival of rocket attacks within a year or two. You have the responsibility, even while defending Israel, to scrutinize its decisions and its actions in an attempt to understand why such potent anger against it exists.
